Principal's Message

Ray Macias, Opportunity Center Principal

It is my pleasure to serve as the Principal of Del Valle Opportunity Center.  This is my 24th year in educational leadership.  Prior to the Opportunity Center I served as the Principal of Del Valle High School and Stroman High School, I also served as Assistant Principal in Southwest High School, Lake Worth High School and Middle Level Learning Center.  I started my educational career as a Social Studies, Special Education Teacher and Coach at Diamond Hill Jarvis High School, Memorial High School, Edgewood High School and Brentwood Middle School.  I completed my master’s in Educational Administration at the University of North Texas and my bachelor’s and teaching certification at St. Mary’s University.

I am blessed with 3 children, Collin Ray, Connor Joseph and Alyssa Taylor.  Collin is completing his masters at the University of Arkansas in May 2022, Connor is finishing his bachelors at Trinity University in May 2022, and Alyssa is on her sophomore year at the University of Arkansas.  My lovely wife, Kathy, has a master’s from UTA and is currently a Bank forms sales and service representative for Conmar and an Energy vendor customer relations and sales representatives for Orr Energy.

It is truly a privilege to work within a great community like Del Valle that recognizes the value in every student and supports and invests in their education.  Our teachers and staff at the Opportunity Center are quality educators and prioritize student needs above all.  The stability of our faculty is the foundation in creating a safe and progressive environment for our students and community. Together we work to unlock the potential of our students and springboard them into a world of post-secondary opportunities.

A Message from Ray Macias

Welcome to Del Valle Opportunity Center!

Dear Del Valle ISD Community,

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter to you as the Principal of Del Valle Opportunity Center.   I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition both in and out of the classroom.

The DVOC has earned a fantastic reputation through the hard work of our students, teachers, parents, and staff.  The Opportunity Center is proud to support numerous challenging academic courses, and second to none - social emotional programs and clubs for students.  We encourage you to experience our school culture, one that is focused on providing students with the academic and social resources that will prepare them to achieve their post-secondary goals.

At DVOC we believe that it is important for our students to be connected to school through positive relationships and a strong sense of community.  I believe that every student can learn and be successful if provided the right supports and opportunities.  Our teachers and staff are committed to providing all students with an appropriate and challenging educational experience in a respectful environment that fosters learning and growth.

A crucial part of success for students is attendance.  As a parent or guardian it is essential for you to maintain an attitude that “Every Day Counts” for students to be in school and ready to learn each day.  At DVOC, we will assist in helping parents and families understand the importance of instructional time and school attendance.  Additionally at the Opportunity Center, we recognize that family and community support are integral to our success.  This is why we encourage you to join us as a volunteer through PBIS & SEL functions, College and Career Fairs, Financial Aide sessions, Open House, Meet the Teacher and our Graduations.

When we take the time to strategically plan, forge positive relationships, celebrate our achievements, and continue to build on our successful foundation, we can foster a learning environment where our entire DVOC community thrives.

Del Valle Opportunity Center is a place where exceptional teaching and learning is the norm.  I am truly honored to be a part of the Del Valle Community.

Have a great school year!

Mr. Ray Macias
